Glazing

Double glazing refers to a type of window construction that includes two layers of glass separated by a space filled with air or an inert gas, such as argon. This design helps to improve insulation, reducing heat loss and enhancing energy efficiency.

The benefits of double glazing include:

  1. Improved Insulation: Double glazing helps to keep heat in during winter and out during summer, making your home more comfortable and reducing energy bills.

  2. Reduced Noise: The gap between the two panes of glass helps to reduce the amount of noise that enters your home, which can be especially beneficial in noisy areas.

  3. Enhanced Security: Double glazed windows are generally tougher to break than single glazed ones, providing an added layer of security.

  4. Condensation Reduction: The insulating layer of air or gas helps to reduce condensation on the inside of the windows, which can prevent mold and damage to window frames.

  5. Increased Property Value: Energy-efficient features like double glazing can enhance the value of a property, making it more attractive to potential buyers.

If you click the link it will show you the different glass types each  suppiler can manufacture.

We can manufacture our joinery to allow for any double glazing glass options available.

Retro-fit double glazing

Tom Lemon can retro-fit your existing joinery if desired.

Although we recommend it being cost effective to get new joinery made to suit double glazed units.

During Retro-fit we will remove the single glazed glass from your joinery and deepen the rebates to allow for a new custom double glazed unit to be installed.

We also recommend installation of our draught seal beads to fully weatherproof your existing frames. We will put this in the quote as a standard as we believe it is a very important addition to get the full benefits of double glazing.
